NEA Baptist Receives New Inpatient Accreditation

Jonesboro, AR., June 9, 2017 – Baptist Non-Invasive Inpatient Cardiology Department was recently granted a new three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) In Echocardiography in the area(s) of adult stress and adult transthoracic. This latest accreditation awarded to ENA Baptist Non-Invasive Inpatient Cardiology Department Demonstrates the facility’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in echocardiography.

In addition, NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital Non-Invasive Outpatient Cardiology Center has been granted a three-year term of reaccreditation by IAC, also in Echocardiography in the area(s) of adult stress and adult transthoracic.

Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of series conditions. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, followed close by stroke as the fourth highest cause of death. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), more than 2,150 Americans die each day from cardiovascular disease which amounts to about one every 40 seconds.

“I am very proud of the professionals in our Non-invasive Cardiology Department who work hard every day to provide the best possible patient care,” said Robert Taylor, MD, Non-Invasive Cardiologist at NEA Baptist Clinic. “Having been granted this accreditation is another example of their commitment to providing consistent high quality cardiac testing for our patients.  The process of applying for and receiving this accreditation requires a commitment to maintaining well-trained professionals and equipment as well as ongoing quality improvement. I believe this should represent a source of pride for all of us and reassure our patients of our ongoing commitment to providing appropriate and high-quality cardiac testing when needed.”

There are many factors that contribute to an accurate diagnosis based on echocardiography. The training and experience of the sonographer performing the procedure, the type of equipment used and the quality assessment metrics each facility is required to measure, all contribute to a positive patient outcome. IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indicator of consistent quality care and a dedication to continuous improvement.

Accreditation by the IAC means that NEA Baptist Non-Invasive Inpatient Cardiology and NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital Non-Invasive Outpatient Cardiology Center have undergone an intensive application and review process and are found to be compliant with the published Standards thus demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care in echocardiography.
