Clinical Research
Benefits of Clinical Trials:
- New and improved treatment options for patients
- Fewer side effects
- Latest treatment options close to home
- New standards of care
- Free medical care (non-oncology studies only)
- Reimbursement for time and travel may also be provided.
Patients take part in clinical trials for a number of different reasons. Some of the reasons include hope for themselves, a way to feel better, a longer time to live, or the knowledge that they are making a contribution that could help another person. Patients that participate in clinical trials are sometimes the first to receive and benefit from a new medication that is not yet available to the general population. Patients that participate in clinical trials are also monitored carefully during the trial and in the follow up period.
